Core Values
Bible Knowledge -- Psalm 119: 9-11
- We believe that Bible knowledge is understanding the truths of God's word in order to grow in the faith, receive direction for our daily lives, and teach the gospel of Christ. This includes a familiarity with the history of God's people in the Old Testament, an understanding of the life and work of Jesus Christ and His disciples in the New Testament, and a grasp of God's plan for the future of the church.
- We believe that the placing of God's Word in our heart is our greatest defense against the attacks of the enemy and the way we can truly know God.
Biblical Preaching & Teaching -- II Timothy 3:16
- We believe the purpose of preaching & teaching is to present the truths of Scripture in such a way so that people may come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, live a life that reflects His glory and character, and witness to His saving love and power.
Evangelism -- Matthew 28:19
- We believe that every Christian is to follow both the example and command of our Savior (Matthew 28: 19-20) by discipling people into an ever-growing relationship with Jesus to become fully-devoted followers of Christ.
- We believe that each believer's life is to be a witness to the saving grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We believe that evangelism is not just a program or event but also a daily everyday passion of each believer.
Fellowship & Family -- Acts 2:42 / Mark 5:19
- We believe Christian fellowship strengthens the church family. Fellowship provides opportunities for encouragement, comfort, tenderness, and compassion. As we fellowship with each other the Holy Spirit unites us and gives us understanding and strengthens our relationships with one another and God.
- We believe that God's design for a family ideally consists of a husband and wife who are devoted to Christ and each other. They raise their children by the moral guidelines taught in Scripture and teach them the importance of the church and the importance of their role in it. It is also the role of the church to assist in the discipling of the children. We believe that a Christ centered family is the cornerstone of the church and the community.
Mission & Service -- Matthew 28:19 / Matthew 22: 37-40
- We believe we bring God glory by telling others about Him. God doesn't want His love and purposes kept a secret. Once we know the truth, he expects us to share it with others. This is a great privilege - introducing others to Jesus, helping them discover their purpose, and preparing them for their eternal destiny. As God's grace brings more and more people to Christ, God will receive more and more glory.
- We believe that Jesus commanded us to reach our communities and the world with His good news. We believe that mission and service go hand in hand and, without works, our faith is dead and will not be productive. We encourage and believe that every member of the church should be actively involved in both missions and service through financial support, participation, and prayer.
Prayer -- John 16:24 / Acts 1:14
- We believe that prayer is seeking God's wisdom and direction and is necessary for direction in all ministry and daily living at Mohn's Hill so that He may be glorified.
- We believe that prayer is the fuel that ignites the power of the Holy Spirit within the church and one another so that God may be glorified as His children obey, minister, and serve Him.
- We believe that prayer is the communication with God through Jesus Christ which draws His people into a more intimate relationship with Him so that they may glorify Him in all they think, say, and do.
Worship -- Acts 2: 46-47
- We believe that God alone is worthy of worship. We believe worship is a purposeful and consistent daily pattern of praising God as a congregation and as individuals. We believe that holistic worship includes, but is not limited to, music, drama, prayers, responsive readings, Scripture, and offering. We believe that worship is honoring to God and time must be devoted solely for that intention. We believe that God is Spirit and can be worshipped anywhere and at all times with glad and sincere hearts and that our worship shall be aligned with the truth of Scripture. We believe that our church will be blessed through genuine worship.
